MTRCB Website Hacked And Defaced By A Group Who Calls Themselves 'Pinoy Hackers'

A group of hackers who collectively call themselves Pinoy Hackers got into and defaced the official website of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). According to the message they posted on the website's homepage, the group claims that their taking control of the MTRCB website is in protest of a controversial political advertisement recently released in television networks.

The group is referring to the negative ad against presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte which featured children and clips of the Davao mayor's most controversial public remarks. The advertisement was reportedly paid for by vice-presidential candidate Antonio Trillanes.

MTRCB is the government agency responsible for the classification and review of television programs, movies, and home videos that are aired in the country.

The message by Pinoy Hackers is accompanied by an animated image of a dove holding laurel leaves in its beak and a digital rendering of a man wearing a hoodie and a has mask. Also playing in the background is rock music. As of this writing, the website is still down.

If you can't see the image above, here's a full text of the message:

"Greetings Philippines! We are Pinoy Hackers.

Ginawa itong MTRCB para magsilbing taga-implementa ng "FAIR AND UNBIASED' reporting ng mga TV,print and movie industry pero nagsawalang-kibo (literal, they turned a BLIND EYE) to that malicious political mud-slinging Ad.

Anu pang silbi mo MTRCB?

-Concerned Filipino Citizens

We are watching!"
