Captain Rommel Timbreza Of Silet, San Juan, Abra Gunned Down In Zone 5, Bangued, Abra

A barangay chairman in the province of Abra died after being gunned down by two assailants in Zone 5 Poblacion, Bangued, on Thursday afternoon (November 10). According to a police report, the man who was identified as Rommel Vergara Timbreza, was purchasing automotive parts at an auto supply shop when two men aboard a motorcycle appeared from nowhere and fired at him twice. Timbreza, the barangay captain of Silet, San Juan, Abra was hit twice in the head.

The two men on the motorcycle quickly escaped after the incident. Their identities are still unknown. Those who saw the incident rushed Timbreza to the Abra Provincial Hospital but he was declared departed on arrival. The attending physicians said that the hits on the man's head were fatal.

Members of the Abra police as well as elements of the SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operations) team went over and processed the crime scene. According to them, they were able to recover two shells of a handgun at the scene.

The Bangued police are still investigating into the incident. A manhunt is ongoing for the perpetrators. A motive for the crime is yet to be established.

Abra is considered as one of the most dangerous provinces in the Philippines because of the rate of gun violence being reported there every year. It's also because of this reason that the province is consistently being tagged as a hotspot during elections.
