Moonlight Over Baler Starring Vin Abrenica And Sophie Albert To Be Released On February 8

When it comes to local film releases in the Philippines, the month of February is among the busiest during the year. There are more Tagalog movies released in this month compared to other months of the year. And one of the major movies coming out next month is Moonlight Over Baler, an epic romantic drama by Gil M. Portes. It's scheduled to be released on February 8 as a pre-Valentine presentation. The tagline for the film is "Matupad na kaya ngayon ang pangako ng kahapon?".

Moonlight Over Baler is based on an award-winning script of the same name by Enrique Ramos. The script won the third prize in the Dulang Pampelikula category in the 2009 Palanca Awards. The first and second prizes went to Hiwaga by Christian M. Lacuesta and Seymour Barros Sanchez and Muli by Jerry B. Gracio, respectively. The Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the Philippines.

The movie adaptation features Vin Abrenica, Sophie Albert, Ellen Adarna, and Elizabeth Oropesa in the main cast. Also starring in the film are Daria Ramirez, Angie Ferro, Abel Estanislao, Dennis Coronel, Jess Evardone, Blaine Medina, Menggie Cobarrubias, Kate Alejandrino, Aaron Yanga, Alvin Fortuna, and June Nayra.

The theme song for the film is O Maliwanag Na Buwan, a ballad popularized by Pilita Corrales. The movie is set in the picturesque town of Baler in Aurora province in Northern Luzon.

Here's the plot outline for the film:
"In the summer of 1986, Fidela, a freshly retired schoolteacher in Baler, meets Kenji, a young Japanese photojournalist. Kenji looks so much like her fiance, a soldier in World War II who never returned. Moonlight Over Baler is a romantic comedy-drama about two epic love stories four decades apart, bound together by one unforgettable song, in one magical place, one fateful summer."
