In Defense Of Crislyn Villanueva: Sharing Her Video Is An Invasion Of Her Privacy And Dignity!

Insensitivity. This is an attribute of a lot of Filipinos that saddens me. It's a dark spot in Filipino society. I'm not going to go into details about the video featuring Crislyn Villanueva. The fact that you are reading this piece means that you already know the gist of the story. If you came to this article looking for the video, I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you. I'm not going to share the video here. I'm not going to share it anywhere. Simply because it's not right. Crislyn Villanueva has done nothing wrong. You could say she made a mistake in taking a video of a very intimate moment. But that's about it.

I can't even imagine what Crislyn Villanueva is going through right now. This also goes for the man she was with in the video. The pain and the embarrassment of being talked about because of the video they made. And let's not forget the pain that their family and friends may also be going through. That's why it saddens me when I see people gleefully talking about the video in social media and news sites.

How the video ended up online, I don't know. And it really doesn't matter how it got online. People need to stop sharing it. People need to stop judging Crislyn Villanueva and her character because of it. People need to stop making disparaging comments about her. People need to stop bullying her. I say it again, she didn't do anything wrong. In fact, it's the people who are sharing the video who are in the wrong. She doesn't deserve the pain and embarrassment she's going through.

This is something that will leave a scar for the rest of her life. Her life isn't going to be the same. The video will always be there. It's not going away. That's why I'm hoping that she's mentally strong enough to fight off the pain and embarrassment she's going through right now. I hope she'll rise from this issue and get on with her life. It will be easier for her to go through this if people will just stop from sharing her video. In letting more people know about the video, you are contributing to the invasion of her privacy and dignity.

Just in case you are wondering why I used her name in this article, allow me to explain why. It does look like I'm contributing to the chatter about her and the video. Here's my answer: I wrote this article as a counter to the negative posts that are already populating the search engines if someone searches for her name. So the people reading this article already know her name. They are either looking for the video or trying to find additional information about Ms. Villanueva. It's my hope that they end up reading this article instead of ending up in a site that contains the video.

To Crislyn Villanueva, if you happen to come across this post, don't let the incident destroy who you are as a person. You or your partner made the mistake of being careless about a video. You made a mistake but you did nothing wrong. You'll get through this. As they say, time can heal anything.
