23-Year-Old Man Carried Away by Strong Current Along Amburayan River

A 23-year-old man was reportedly carried away by the strong water current along Amburayan River around noon on Thursday (August 26). The man has been identified as Cliever Abuan Gapasin, a resident of Km. 18., Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. 

Based on an initial report by the Kapangan MDRRMO, the incident happened between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon. However, the incident was only reported to the Kapangan MDRRMO around 12:30 pm.

Combined elements of the Kapangan MDRRMO, Kapangan PNP, Kapangan BFP, and local volunteers conducted search and rescue but they haven't found Gapasen as of this time.

The Amburayan River is a popular destination not only for Kapangan residents but for vistors from nearby towns as well. The river is just an hour's drive from the capital town of La Trinidad. Near and accessible, the river is one of the most visited areas in Kapangan.

People are being advised to avoid going into the river especially during this rainy season as the current can suddenly swell.
