Body of Man Drowned in Amburayan River Has Been Found

The body of Cliever Abuan Gapasin has been found. The 23-year-old man drowned when he was carried away by the swift current of the Amburayan River in Kapangan last Thursday. His body was found around 3:00 pm today in a section of the Amburayan River within the vicinity of sitio Gambang in barangay Cuba.

Search and rescue operations commenced yesterday afternoon when the Kapangan MDRRMO office received a report of a man carried away by the current in the river. The day ended without his body being found. Search and rescue operations continued the next day. Searchers and rescuers were composed of personnel from the MDRRMO, BFP, PNP, barangay officials, local volunteers, and friends/family of the victim.

In light of the incident, locals living near the Amburayan River and vistiors from nearby towns are being advised to avoid going into the river if the current is very strong. The rainy season is also in full swing so sudden increases in water level and flow current are expected especially during and after a heavy rain.
