Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan to Run as Benguet Congressman in 2022 Polls

Victorio Palangdan, the current Mayor of the town of Itogon in Benguet has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Friday morning, October 1. He will be running for Congressman in the coming 2022 elections. Accompanied by his wife Jofelia and their son Victorio Jr., the Mayor filed his COC at COMELEC-Benguet.

Palangdan is the first politician to file his COC in Benguet. The congressional race in the province of Benguet is expected by observers to be a heated race with multiple names rumored to be gunning for a seat in the House of Representatives. Other people rumored to be filing their COCs in the coming days are Eric Yap, Nestor Fongwan Jr., and Cresencio Pacalso.

It can be recalled that Eric Yap was installed as the caretaker congressman for Benguet after the untimely passing of then Congressman Nestor Fongwan Jr.

Benguet is composed of 13 municipalities with a population of nearly half a million.
