3 Children Die in Ambiong Landslide Caused by Typhoon Maring

Three children who were siblings died when their house was struck by debris from a landslide caused by Typhoon Maring. The landslide occurred on Monday night at Sitio Ubbog, Barangay Central Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet. The children were aged 2, 6, and 8. Based on initial reports, the three kids and their parents were eating dinner when a landslide struck their home.

Rescuers on the scene rushed the three children to a hospital but they were declared dead on arrival. They are the first reported casualties of Typhoon Maring in the La Trinidad area. Their parents, Stephanie and Romnick Teligo, survived the ordeal.

The province of Benguet started experiencing heavy rains and strong winds on Monday when Typhoon Maring landed on northern Luzon. Several barangays like Pico, Betag, Wangal, and Buyagan also experienced flooding. At some sections, the floodwaters were severl feet high. The Strawberry Farm and surrounding fields were also submerged in floodwaters.

Typhoon Maring is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday.
